Girls Trip 2019 - Part IV: Delaware

Saturday, September 21st:

Like I mentioned before, Katey is 8 months pregnant with a GIRL, so Emily and I threw her a little baby shower with her friends in Delaware.

We got cupcakes (that were NOT dropped in the parking lot 😬🤫), a few decorations, and then gathered at Plaza Mexico for lunch.

[Katey's mom gave her this blessing dress that she had worn as a baby. It was a very sweet moment between Katey and her mom.]

After lunch Katey, Emily, and I headed to Rehoboth Beach. Katey has been telling us about this amazing beach and boardwalk for almost two years, so I was excited to see it!

We got fries from Thrasher's and then headed to the beach to sit on the sand.

We sat and talked for a long time. It was so nice to relax after such a busy few days. As we were getting ready to leave and find some dinner, this guy came walking by with his HUGE kite! It was so cool! He kept making it do tricks and dive bomb the spectators.

We then walked up the boardwalk to Fins Fish House where we got a crab dip and some crab cakes! When in Rome!

After dinner I called Josh to check in. He assured me that everything was going well and that they missed me. As I was saying goodbye he mentioned that he was about to wake Theo up from his power nap. After I got off the phone I checked our baby camera and saw this sweet moment between Josh and Theo ❤️

After showing the girls how adorable my husband is, we continued our walk down the boardwalk to Makin' Whoopie where we got some GIGANTIC whoopie pies.

It was a bit too sweet for me, so I ended up throwing half of it away, but what I did eat was delicious!

Sunday, September 22nd:

[Crab pots at Katey's house]

The next morning we headed to Egg for brunch. It was a long wait, but it was worth it!

We got the candy sriracha bacon, crab eggs Benedict, biscuits and sausage gravy, and cornbread covered in bacon gravy. I'm not a sriracha fan, but that bacon was delicious! Everything we got was so yummy and definitely worth the wait!

After brunch Katey took us to a small town on the bayside called Lewes. Did you know that Lewes was the first town in the first state? I didn't!

We walked around the cute downtown area where we explored an adorable (and quirky) used book store, got some cookies at an Italian bakery, and got some juice at Nectar Juice Bar.

We then drove back to Rehoboth Beach, set up our beach chairs, and spent the next few hours listening to the waves crashing on the beach.

[Soft served ice cream from Kohr Bros]

[Fish n Chips from Go Fish!]

We grabbed an early dinner of fish n chips from Go Fish! and then headed to a local Italian place for second dinner where we got a meatball sub and tiramisu!

That night we played Mario Kart (I won!) and Mario Party (Katey's husband, Paul, won... he's not invited to Girls Night anymore 😜). Katey also gave me a bunch of boys clothes for Theo! Thanks Katey!

Monday, September 23rd:

The next morning Katey drove Emily and I to the Philadelphia airport so we could catch our flights home. Since we had some time to kill, Emily and I decided it was only appropriate to get one more cheesesteak before we left. It wasn't as good as Pat's (is anything?!), but it hit the spot! The diet starts tomorrow!

I just want to say thanks to Katey and Paul for hosting us in Delaware and thanks to our wonderful husbands for being awesome and realizing that we NEEDED this trip. Can we please not wait 2.5 years for the next reunion?!

Love you Hohos!

I also want to thank my parents for coming all the way to Illinois to watch Theo while I was gone. They took him to all of his therapy appointments and they said everything went well... so... I'll believe them!

Girls Trip 2019 - Part III: Manhattan Uptown

Friday, September 20th:

We woke up to a beautiful sunrise over Manhattan!

After getting ready we headed to Pick a Bagel to get some breakfast. I got a sesame seed bagel with cream cheese and salmon, Emily got an egg salad on a wheat bagel, and Katey got chive cream cheese on a plain bagel. We then walked up to Central Park where we ate our bagels. They were all delicious, but mine was the BEST 😜

After eating our bagels, Emily and I headed into the Park to see some of the famous sites, while Katey rested.

First we went and saw the John Lennon Memorial.

After paying our respects to one of the greatest song writers of all times, we headed to Cherry Hill to see the Cherry Hill Fountain. Apparently a lot of FRIENDS fans flock here because they think this is the fountain that is in the opening credits. But, sadly, that fountain is at the WB studios in CA. This one kinda looks like it though!

We then walked over to Bethesda Terrace.

Then we strolled to the Loeb Boathouse and tried to get some ice cream, but the service was TERRIBLE and no one would take our order. Oh well.

We then walked over to the Glade Arch.

From there we walked to the Alice in Wonderland statue.

Our last stop was the Conservatory Water where we watched people driving (sailing?) miniature sailboats on the water.

We then left Central Park and headed down 5th Ave where we met up with Katey.

The three of us walked over to The Plaza and the Solow Building.

[Solow Building on the left and The Plaza is in the front]

The Solow Building is Chandler Bings (yes, from FRIENDS) office building so we took pictures in front of it doing the "Chandler smile!"

[Pulitzer Fountain]

We were able to get a late check out (perks of being in the suite AND being a Gold Elite Marriott member), so we were in no hurry to get back to the hotel, which was nice. We took our time and walked down 5th Ave passing all the fancy shops, St Patrick's Cathedral, and Rockefeller Center, before cutting over to Broadway.

[St Patrick's]

We went back to our hotel, said goodbye to the spectacular view, and headed to baggage check.

[View from the top]

We then jumped on the subway and headed to the Chelsea Market.

[Doughnuttery]

[Dicksons]

[Creamline]

[Filaga]

We wondered through the Market and then got fresh doughnuts from Doughnuttery and macaroons from Bar Suzette.

I wanted pizza, Emily wanted tacos, and Katey was craving a burger, so we split up, got our food, and met back at Creamline to eat.

[Pizza from Fliaga, tacos from Los Tacos, and a burger (and shakes) from Creamline]

After eating, we hopped back on the subway (for the last time) and headed back to the Marriott Marquis to get our luggage and Katey's SUV.

BUT we had one more stop to make! Juniors!

We all got cheesecake, which Emily and I froze (once we got back to Katey's) and we were able to take them back home to Chicago and Vegas! Josh was so happy when I surprised him with chocolate swirl cheesecake from Juniors!

We then made the 5 hour drive (it seemed like it took FOREVER to get through the Lincoln Tunnel and down the Turnpike) to Katey's house in Delaware!

I had SOOOO much fun exploring Manhattan with my Hohos! It's seriously a dream come true! Just going to the FRIENDS apartment with Katey and Emily made me so happy!

I really want to thank Katey for being such a trooper and letting us take her to NYC. I know it wasn't easy walking around when you are 8 months pregnant!
