Theo's Twelve Months Old

Theo is ONE! At times it seems like this has been the longest year of my life, but then I look back and I can't believe where the time went!

We had busy month! Theo had his two bottom teeth punch through (finally 🙌), we had daily appointments (chiropractor and therapy), we went to the hospital in Peoria to meet with Interventional Radiology, AND we celebrated Theo's birthday by renting a house in Downers Grove (a Chicago Suburb) for two weeks.

Theo is 31 inches long (90th percentile), but only 18 lbs 10 ounces (15th percentile). Since he only gained 6 ounces in the last three months they really want me to focus on making sure he is getting enough calories to eat. I told them that he hasn’t been as interested in baby food during the last month due to teething. So, they are recommending adding heavy whipping cream to his bottles, switching to a “transitional formula” for infants (instead of whole milk because formula has more nutrients), adding butter and full fat cheese to his baby food, feeding him full fat yogurt, and trying to get him to eat ANYTHING. They made us an appointment to come back in a month to check his weight.

On July 25th, Theo, Josh and I went to Peoria to see Interventional Radiology. We first met with the Nurse Practitioner, Jessica, and then she went and got Dr. Fraser. They are concerned with Theo’s lack of physical and developmental progress so they are wanting to schedule a MRI, echocardiogram, angiogram, and another embolization procedure to be done in early September.

They can still hear the bruit (vascular murmur) when they listen to his soft spot, so they know the aneurysm isn't 100% blocked. We knew would take another procedure to completely plug the aneurysm, but Dr. Fraser was hoping to wait until Theo was two before the next embolization. As of right now the procedure is scheduled for September 5th.

[So much drool due to teething!]

They work hard and play hard at Physical Therapy! Theo LOVES the green swing and he is warming up to Ms. Becca and Ms. Cody.

The PTs have been focusing on Theo's head control (he's still not holding up his head), grabbing for and playing with toys, grabbing and putting his Paci back in his mouth, and rolling onto his right side.

[Not a fan of food right now]

[YAY! On July 14th, Theo had his first tooth punch through! The second one came in two weeks later]

We go on a "Family Date Night" almost every Saturday and on July 14th we decided to take a stroll around Ottawa before our dinner reservations.

We went to Washington Square Park which is there the first Lincoln-Douglas debate was held on August 21, 1858. Lincoln went on to lose that election, but he won the next one and became our 16th President.

[I love the Court House, it looks like the Clock Tower in Back to the Future]

[Every Saturday night during the summer, there is a free concert in Washington Square Park]

[Theo is getting pretty good at getting his Paci back in his mouth]

[My Costco date]

[Our PT told us about this authentic French bakery that we HAD to try. I'm glad we did! These are the best macarons I've ever had!]

[On Saturday mornings there is a farmers market in Ottawa. Theo and I went to check it out and we got some fresh honey, pies, rhubarb bread (for Josh), and cookies!]

[No caption needed]

[Our Occupational Therapist, Glady, brought me a huge zucchini. Josh made zucchini bread and it was delicious!]

[Theo in his "big boy chair" aka feeder chair]

[Theo is still wanting to make a fist with his thumb inside his fingers. The PT gave us this glove to help him keep his thumb out]

Theo only allowed me to take four pictures of him on his birthday:

"SMILE!"

ANNNNDDDD....

ALMOST....

DONE!

We celebrated Theo's birthday on August 5th, while we were at the house in Downers Grove. It was a Star Wars party (of course), so stay tuned for pictures!

Josh continues to work hard as Chief Inspector on the pipeline. The long hours can be brutal, but he loves what he does!

I spent most of my time taking care of Theo, but one night I decided to go and get a haircut. Every woman needs to be pampered every once in a while! Since I started putting collagen peptides in my protein shake and using Surface Awaken hair products, I have new hair growth. As a result, the hair stylist just trimmed my hair and said once the new growth evens out we can do a fun style with it! YAY!
