Bathroom Tile Finished!

Monday, February 12th:

The bus picks Theo up at 8:15 AM and school starts at 9:00 AM. At 9:08 AM I got this message from Ms. Jess:

["Let's go bus bus"]

I guess after 8 minutes of school Theo was ready to go home on the bus! Silly kid!

Theo loves to go on the bus and he loves to be at school 🙂

Later that morning we took the van back to the mechanic so he could check out a strange noise coming from the engine area. I was very worried it was going to be something bad like the transmission or engine. A few hours later the mechanic called and said the sound was due to a break in the case that is around the engine. It's an aftermarket addition that was placed when the van was converted. He said they would just remove the case, weld it back together, and put it back. Easy peasy! $300! Phew! That's a lot cheaper than an engine or transmission problem!

The tile guy, Ryan, continues to work hard to get our large shower finished. It's looking great!

Theo had six observable seizures today.

Tuesday, February 13th:

Theo had a great day at school. He played in the ball pit again, had PT, and ate some of his snack pouch! Ms. Jess sent me this message right before we came to pick him up from school. I guess we were so excited about Theo communicating that we didn't teach him about filters and being nice 😬

On our way to pickup Theo we stopped by the mechanic to get the van. She sounds great! After school we took Theo to PT/OT and then to The Legacy Ranch for his lessons with Sherman.

[Nice Sherman!]

The tile guy is on track to be done by the end of the week!

Theo had five observable seizures today.

Wednesday, February 14th:

❤️ HAPPY VALENTINES DAY ❤️

Josh and I decided to not do anything too crazy this year. He got me milk Bordeaux from See's Candies and I got him some chocolate covered cherries and Andie's mints. We are going to go to dinner next week when Ms. Jess can babysit.

[Classic Mid-West]

Theo had another funny message at school today:

Apparently we need to have a picnic party at the park! Sounds good to me! Can we at least wait for it to warm up a bit?

Theo had a little Valentines Day party at school and got so much fun stuff from his classmates.

The contractor is planning on coming back on Monday to put in the doors, do the trimming, and paint. We have no idea what color would look the best, so I reached out to Missy to see what she thinks.

She recommended Rainwashed by Sherwin Williams. It's a very light green and I think it will look great!

[Example from Missy]

After school Theo had feeding therapy with Ms. Jen, while Ms. Jeannine Zoomed in. He ate a few bites of food pouch and then had two stars! We are so proud of him!

Theo had six observable seizures today.

Thursday, February 15th:

Theo had another fun day at school. For PT they went to the gym and went on floor scooters. Theo loved it and kept telling them to "go go!"

While Theo was at school I went and got my allergy shots and then voted! YAY!

I don't know if I've talked about this yet, but most days when we go to pick up Theo there is this small blue car that parks over the line into the handicap spot. It has been going on for a long time, so I decided to start taking pictures every time it happens. Then I can go talk to the owner and ask them kindly to stop parking like that. I figured it would be best to gather evidence before I go talk to them. Please don't park like this. And please don't park in the hash marks either. We need that space for the ramp 🤦‍♀️

After school we took Theo to OT with Ms. Laura. She has two students with her right now and Ms. Laura asked me to read them some of Theo's recent messages. They got a kick out of them! This kid is too silly!

The tile work is ALMOST DONE!

Theo had 15 observable seizures today.

Friday, February 16th:

Apparently while Theo was at school he said he wants a "puppy pet." Sorry, kiddo. We are just too allergic for a real puppy, so we'll just stick with the stuffed animals 🙂

During snack time Theo said "I don't want to do this, yucky!" and then he refused anymore food. I am so proud of him for using his tools and communicating!

After school we took Theo to PT where he worked really hard for Ms. Cody. We started using a timer for some of his activities and I think that has been helping him focus.

The tile guy is done! YAY! It looks so great!

[That's a pretty big shower - Josh for scale]

Of course Josh started inspecting and found a few rough spots that he's going to have Ryan grind down.

[I love the shelf!]

[It'll be so great for Theo in his bath chair]

Theo had 15 observable seizures today including three that were over a minute and one that was over two minutes. These are NOT tonic-clonic (Grand Mal) seizures, so he is not shaking. His seizures are still small focal type seizures that cause him to turn sharply to the left. Usually he will turn to the left and hold that pose for 3-5 seconds. But sometimes they are much, much longer. He is still aware during these longer seizures, but you can tell the seizure is still happening because his head is turned to the left and stuck in that position and his eyes are being pushed to the left as well. I'm going to send a message to his Epilepsy doctor once Lurie's Children's recovers from a cyber attack. Seriously, who attacks a Children's hospital? Pure evil scum.

Weekend:

It was very cold this weekend, so we stay inside where it is warm.

On Sunday night I attended a to a book club meetup Zoom. We read "A Fever in the Heartland: The Ku Klux Klan's Plot to Take Over America, and the Woman Who Stopped Them." It's a true story and it's horrifying! Go read it! We had a Zoom with the author, Timothy Egan and it was fantastic!

The NBA All Star game started while my book club was still going, so I put it on in the background.

The East won 211-186! Records are busted all over the place!

I'm just happy that the Lakers are above .500 going into All Star Weekend! That'll give us some good momentum!
