On Monday, December 13th, we got up early (stuffy noses and all) and made it to Magic Kingdom in time for rope drop. We immediately split into smaller groups, so the taller kids could ride the bigger rides and the shorter kids could go on the smaller rides. I took Theo to Customer Service so we could get him a wheelchair tag. This is supposed to help the Cast Members identify his wheelchair as a wheelchair and not a stroller. It was very helpful.
[Theo's first time at Magic Kingdom! He really did enjoy it!]
Some people headed to the Carousel, while the taller kids went on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
[Teagan]
[Porter and Kenna]
[Cole]
Missy and Papa took Cason and Hayden on The Magic Carpets of Aladdin.
Missy then went on a mission to find her cheese filled pretzel.
Theo and I met up with Papa and Cason and we went on the Riverboat.
[Theo fell asleep at the end of the Riverboat tour]
[Brady, Dane, and Brodee on Mad Tea Party]
We then took the little kids to the Country Bear Jamboree. Theo was very mesmerized by the whole thing and Cason loved it!
[Missy, Papa, and Grandma with the little kid crew]
[Cole got his bubbles!]
The boys took their turns trying to get the sword out of the stone!
[Splash Mountain]
[Big Thunder]
Josh was either carrying a kid or holding hands with one during the day. Teagan really liked being held by him.
After lunch we all headed to the Carousel of Progress.
"There's a great big beautiful tomorrow"
I then decided to be brave and take Theo on his first ride, It's a Small World. Missy, Papa, Grandma, Andie, and I took Teagan, Porter, Kenna, Cole, Hayden, Cason, and Theo. He was able to stay in his wheelchair and the rest of us were able to go in the boat with him. It was a full boat with plenty of lap sitters! At first Theo wasn't so sure, but then he listened to the music and started to enjoy the ride. AND then he fell asleep. Classic!
[Wheelchair accessible boat]
Papa, Theo, and I went shopping while everyone else went on Haunted Mansion. I was looking for the cake pops I got when we were at Disneyland back in 2018. They didn't have the exact same ones, but these were still delicious! I bought everyone a cake pop and we passed them out after dinner.
At the end of the day we all went on Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid. They had a special shell for Theo to ride in so he could stay in his wheelchair.
[All ready to go!]
Theo LOVED the ride and would perk up anytime there was singing! The shell was modified so the ride was super smooth.
We decided to beat the crowds and leave the park during the fireworks show. We took turns carrying the medium sized kids (the smaller ones were in strollers) and we watched the firework show from the ferry.
[Cole represents how we all felt at the end of the day]
I just wanted to add that Theo did GREAT at Magic Kingdom today. He loves being in his wheelchair, listening to good music, and people watching. His stomach tolerates a lot more now, so we are able to feed him while he is sitting in his wheelchair. There were a few bathrooms throughout the park that had larger built-in changing tables, which were the perfect size for Theo. *SIDE NOTE: Why don't the "Family bathrooms" have adult sized changing tables?! Or at least those built-in ones? Those small Koala Care ones just don't work for us.* He HATED getting his diaper changed (bathrooms are loud and unfamiliar), but he was fine. He was also able to nap in his wheelchair a few times, which helped keep him in a good mood. It was hard to justify paying a crazy amount of money to take him to Magic Kingdom just so he could ride two rides, but I think it was worth it!
