We asked Sara a while ago if Brodee could come to our reunion in CA. She said yes, but she wasn't sure where Brodee would be leading up to the reunion. As the vacation got nearer Sara told us that they were going to be moving to Kingman, AZ from Fort Stockton, TX and she could have Brodee in Vegas for us to fly to CA on June 4th. I started researching flights, but realized it would be easier for Luke and Andie to pick up Brodee on their way down from Utah. We made sure that was okay with Sara and she said that would work. Then she told us that Brodee would actually be with Layne (his step-dad) in eastern Utah before the reunion. We also found out that Missy and Tyson would be driving through Utah on their way to CA, so we decided it would be easier for Missy and Tyson to meet Layne in Beaver, UT on June 3rd and pick up Brodee there. They would then drive to St George and spend the night before making their way to CA on June 4th to meet up with the rest of us. It was a lot of coordinating, but Layne is reliable and Missy and Tyson were communicating with him.
Meanwhile, back in Chicagoland, I was worried about being away from our newly planted flowers for too long. I went out and bought a timer and Josh set up the sprinkler to water the plants twice a day.
Saturday, June 3rd:
I spent all day packing while we waited to hear how the Brodee exchange went. In the late afternoon I got this picture:
Missy said the exchange went well and Layne was even an hour early!
That night they went to a local water park and it looks like the boys had a great time together! Thanks Missy, Tyson, and Layne for making the exchange so seamless!
Sunday, June 4th:
Josh's co-worked kindly came with us to the airport, so we could use our van to transport Theo to the airport, but not have to park there. Thanks Patrick!
Our flight was delayed by an hour so that gave us plenty of time to walk around, go find the handicap bathroom, and get a big tin of Garretts Popcorn!
Theo did okay on the flight. He took a nap, but the car seat is not super comfortable and I think he gets uncomfortable with his legs dangling. Half way though the flight we turned him sideways so he could put his legs on Josh's lap. That definitely helped!
Ryan, Kayleen, and their three littles flew in from Cinncinati that morning and my parents flew in from Hawaii a few hours before we arrive. After we got our luggage we were picked up by my parents in our rental van and headed straight for In-n-Out. "Can I get a #1 (hamburger), no onions, add pickles, a fry well, and a chocolate shake please?"
It was sooooo goooood!
After lunch we made our way to Kathy and Kris Van Dusen's house in San Clemente. We are exchanging our rentals in Orlando for their house in San Clemente for a week. It's a great deal and the house is big enough to hold all 21 of us!
Missy, Tyson, and the five boys made their way to San Clemente from St George (with a stop at Terrible's and El Polo Loco) and arrived later that evening.
Andie had to work on Sunday, so they had a later start, but made the drive down from Utah and arrived around midnight.
