Day 1: Tuesday, April 8th
Luke flew in from Utah and I met him at the United Business Class check in.
I've never flown in Business Class before so I did a TON of research before booking these tickets. I read travel blogs, watched YouTube videos, and heavily weighed the cost before upgrading our tickets. To me having access to the Polaris Lounge before AND after our long flights and having the ability to get some sleep before our long day in Hong Kong was a big selling point!
We arrived at the Polaris Lounge about four hours before our 11:15 PM flight.
The lounge was huge! It has bathrooms with showers, nap rooms, a restaurant, a buffet, tons of comfy chairs, and an open bar. All of the food and drinks were complementary too!
Our first stop was the restaurant:
[Buffet]
[Shower rooms]
[Nap rooms]
[Soda, water, and tea station]
[Bar]
[The Lounge]
After hanging out in the Lounge for a few hours we headed to our gate to board our 15.5 hour flight to Hong Kong!
[Our seats]
[Complete with blankets, pillows, slippers, an amenity kit from Therabody, and Bose headphones]
[Lukes slippers were a little small]
[Ready to go!]
After we took off we were served drinks and warm nuts and then a late dinner.
Of course, we topped it all off with dessert 😋
Day 2: Wednesday, April 9th
Just a few hours into the flight the Pilot got on the loud speaker and made an announcement. He told us that there was an "incident" and that if people don't keep their hands to themselves he's going to turn the plane around 🤦♀️ Luckily, nothing else happened and the flight continued towards Hong Kong.
We spent the next 12 hours watching movies and sleeping. Even though Luke wasn't able to lay down all the way, he still slept really well!
A couple hours before we landed the flight attendants woke us up for breakfast. It was warm and delicious and just what we needed after a good nights sleep!
After 15.5 hours we finally arrived in Hong Kong!
