Day 4: Friday April 11th
Hong Kong Disneyland doesn't open until 10:00 AM and closes at 8:00 PM. The park has a similar layout to CA Disneyland and Magic Kingdom, but is slightly bigger. We were worried that since it was spring break that we wouldn't have enough time to get through the whole park. So, we bought early entry and the Premier Access pass for 8 rides: Mickey's PhilharMagic, It's a Small World, Iron Man Experience, Mystic Manor, Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars, Hyperspace Mountain, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Nano Battle, and Frozen Ever After.
It was nice to be able to sleep in a bit after our LONG day yesterday! After getting ready and putting on our matching Disney Bucket List shirts, we headed downstairs for breakfast.
I spent months working with a local lady on these "Bucket List" shirts. I love them! After this trip we just need to go to Paris and Luke and I will have been to all 12 parks!
Luke got the Hong Kong Style Breakfast, which consisted of Char Siu Macaroni in soup, deep-fried fish fillet with scrambled eggs, a Nemo breakfast roll with butter and condensed milk, and juice!
I got the Little Explorers Breakfast which had two Mickey waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, strawberries, and juice. It was perfect!
[Seriously love the theme of this hotel]
After breakfast we jumped on a bus and took it to the Disneyland Resort entrance.
We got to the line about 30 minutes before Early Entry started.
The Asia Disney Parks are really into Duffy and his friends. Duffy is Mickey's stuffed bear that Minnie gave to him. He was introduced in the States back in 2002, but didn't really catch on. In 2004 they launched him in Tokyo and he was an instant hit! In 2010 they added in his friends and some of those friends are now more popular than Duffy!
[LinaBell, ShellieMay (we called her Duffet because we forgot her name 🤣), StellaLou, Duffy, Olu Mei (he's popular at the Aulani Resort in Hawaii), Gelatoni, and CookieAnn]
[No Mickey, just Duffy!]
Our first stop was "World of Frozen!" We hurried to Frozen Ever After since that's the newest ride.
It was SOOOO cute! And the animatronics were SUPER advanced! It was so cool! And I loved hearing them sing in Cantonese 😁
While we were back there we also went on Wandering Oaken's Sliding Sleighs. It was a fun, short rollercoaster. After we got off that ride we walked around and wondered where everyone was. Only World of Frozen Land was open and the next land to open would be Tomorrow Land at 10:30 AM. We grabbed some caramel popcorn and sat by the castle. We checked the ride times and everything was still really short. Turns out a lot of the people at the Asia parks like to do character meets and they take A LOT of photos around the Park. Works for us!
[Tomorrow Land - Iron Man Experience]
[Luke was sad he couldn't ride Hyperspace Mountain]
[Small World]
[Wheelchairs! Representation matters!]
For lunch we went to Plaza Inn because we saw the crispy prawns with mango sauce on the sign outside. We tried a bunch of different items (thank goodness for pictures and Google Translate) and everything was delicious!
[Adventure Land]
Luke was VERY excited to ride Mystic Manor. I didn't know anything about this ride, but I was very pleasantly surprised! Mystic Manor tells the story of Lord Henry Mystic and his monkey, Albert. They are explorers and collectors (looters?!) of rare artifacts. Lord Mystic found a music box that (legend says) brings inanimate objects to life. And of course, cute Albert turns the music box on and everything in the collection comes to life! The ride is so fun and to top it off, Danny Elfman composed the music!
[Lion King show]
We went to go ride the train and there was a Duffy show going on. So, that's where everyone went!
We ended up riding everything TWICE without any issues! We waited until the end of the day to use our Premier Passes since the Park got busier in the afternoon.
Our favorite rides were Mystic Manor and Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars. It's similar to Big Thunder Railroad, but is a little longer and very smooth! And there is a surprise towards the end, which was so fun!
Goodnight Hong Kong Disneyland!
Next stop: Shanghai!
