Theo's New Equipment and February Recap

The month started off (February 1st) with Josh making a road trip to Michigan to pick up some new equipment from a special needs family. We got a KidWalk walker, a Special Tomato seat (which can be used as a carseat), leg immobilizers, and an Infant Coordination Mirror.

That weekend (February 2nd) we stayed home and watched the Super Bowl. We didn't care who won, so we focused on making sure we had some good food!

[Homemade nachos!]

[Josh made guacamole]

[😋]

[Brodee attended a Super Bowl party in Texas. Look how big he's getting!]

Theo continues to work hard with his Feeding Therapist. We are trying to get him more comfortable playing with food.

Theo still doesn't like to be held or cuddled, but he is getting better about it. He does like to be read to, so we are using that to our advantage!

If you haven't watched Season 1 of The Mandalorian, you are really missing out! There is still time to catch up before Season 2 drops this Fall!

[What Josh does on his days off]

Working on "food play." The best thing to do is to distract Theo, so he doesn't get too upset by the food.

So, I put on Star Wars and he LOVES it!

[Playing with the food and watching Star Wars! Win-win!]

Becca and Cody (PT) helped us set up the KidWalk and showed us how to put on his leg immobilizers.

[He didn't like the KidWalk at first, but I distracted him with some of his favorite music videos and he calmed down.]

At OT, Ms Laura put Theo in a tote. He was so comfortable in there!

[We tried it at home too]

We put Theo is his walker almost everyday and he is liking it more and more. He's not trying to walk or anything. We are just working on standing.

For Valentines Day (February 14th) I went and bought a bunch of candy and cookies for Theo's Toddler School classmates!

Theo made this cute art at school and got a lot of treats from his friends!

Josh got me a BB-8 card and See's Candies!

And I got him something for his Rubicon... I guess...

[It was a VERY chilly Valentines Day]

On February 15th I got up early and was at my computer at 6:00 AM, so I could book some Fast Passes for our trip to Orlando in April. Of course, Smugglers Run was all out, but I managed to get a few good ones! I'm so excited!

On February 16th Josh headed to Dubuque, Iowa, for work. Luckily he was only up there for a few days. Now, he is working in NW Indiana, so he is able to come home every night! YAY!

[Seriously guys!]

[Theo has been tolerating tummy time a lot more and is lifting his head up a lot]

[He has also rediscovered his toes!]

[He LOVES his robot!]

[I got this made for Theo. I can attach it to his carseat just incase we get into an accident and I am not able to tell them what is so special about Theo.]

[For reals!]

[Theo actually loves his new chair]

[Working on crawling at PT]

[More cuddles!]

[Hanging onto his ball]

[FaceTime with dad]

A nice lady in my "Buy Nothing" Facebook group needed a beach hat. I had forgotten all about mine, so I gave it to her. That's what the group is all about!

[Theo sitting up big and tall in his chair]

[He likes to lean forward to show me how strong he is]

[Arts and crafts from Toddler School]

[Food play with oatmeal and cinnamon]

[Medical supplies]

[I made sensory bowls!]

We have been doing "food play" with oatmeal (or applesauce) and cinnamon. Theo is getting better about it and doesn't complain too much if he gets some in his mouth.

[Nighttime kisses!]

[I bought this back in 2017. It was time to give it away so I posted it on the "Buy Nothing" Facebook page and I gave it away]

[Neither Josh nor Theo had seen "The Sound of Music". Theo LOVES Marry Poppins, so I figured he would love the music in this movie as well. And I was right!]

We are still working on getting our house set up (does it ever end?). We found these tiny perfect nightstands for our guest room.

I call this the "nook" and we have been trying to figure out what to do with it since we moved in. Missy has a great eye for these things, so she suggested we put in a small cabinet and floating shelves.

[Voilà! The shelves are filled with my archaeology (and anthropology) books and some artifacts from my digs. I love the way it turned out!]

Can you spot the difference between these two pouches? Turns out we have been giving Theo the "adult" (14+ year old) version of his food instead of the pediatric version. I told Theo's dietitian and she said it's not a huge deal, BUT the pediatric version has micronutrients that help with digestion. UGH! Will this nightmare ever end?! Yes, Theo is still throwing up almost every day and we are still working on it.

[More story time!]

[Playing in his big boy chair!]

February 28th is Rare Disease Day. I honestly didn't know this was a thing until I had my own Special Needs child who has a rare disease.

Not only does he have Vein of Galen Malformation (VOGM) he has a lot of other medical diagnosis including an unidentified neurocutaneous disorder, PVL, mild CP, Hemihypertrophy, microangiopathic mineralization, hydrocephalus, and motor and developmental delays.

On February 28th we were supposed to go to Easter Seals for a wheelchair clinic, but it got canceled. Their next available slot isn't until the end of April. Bummer.

Phew! It was a busy month! I hope you are all staying safe, healthy, and warm! I'm thinking spring (my least favorite season) is just around the corner.
