D23, Gliders, and a 35 mile Bike Ride

It was a pretty calm, short week for Josh and Theo, but Disney Plus Day AND D23 happened this week, so I was glued to my phone and computer! We got a lot of fun news concerning Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, and Lucasflim. 2023 is going to be a great year for us nerds!

On Tuesday, September 6th, I put Theo on the bus and sent him off to school. He was very excited to see his friends on the bus!

After school I took Theo to OT. He had a pretty good session, but did fall asleep at the end.

I got a new bike seat! Padded shorts are sometimes not enough, so I did a little research and found this seat. It's supposed to be good for long rides 🙂

I'm so excited to try it out!

Theo had one seizure today.

Wednesday, September 7th, was another good day. Theo had school and then feeding therapy at home. He was VERY shaky during therapy. Even his dietitian, who was on Zoom, could see how much he was shaking. It broke my heart.

Josh and I also got our new COVID booster shots and our flu shots. My arms are sore and I'm a bit tired, but other then that I was good!

Theo had one seizure today.

Thursday, September 8th, was Disney Plus Day! So many fun things dropped on the streaming platform! I'm ready for D23!

And the Queen died 😢

At school Theo read a book (with help) and answered some questions about it.

Our "Bug Guys" came out to do a complimentary termite inspection. He checked the basement, garage, and exterior of the house. Since we don't have mulch around the house we are at a lower risk for termites. He did see a few grubs in the backyard in the mulch that is around our baby trees. He said that they can put in a system to keep any termites out but it will be $2000! We'll pass for now. Thanks for checking!

Theo had two seizures today.

On Friday (September 9th), Theo went to school and then I took him to PT.

Theo and his class read "If you Give a Mouse a Cookie" today! I love that book!

While Theo was at PT Josh and I went to Spencer's Jewelry to see if they could set my black opal. We went to another jewelry store years ago and they were nervous to work with an opal because they are soft stones.

We bought this opal in Australia way back in November 2015 on our honeymoon. I've been wanting to get it made into a ring since we bought it but it was put on the back burner.

[It changes colors depending on how you look at it]

We went to Spencer's Jewelry, showed them the opal, and then showed them some ideas we had.

[My favorite!]

She said they can definitely make a ring for us! YAY! She said they will look at some designs and will call us when they have drawn up some ideas. I can't wait!

Theo had one seizure today and the Neurologist called and had us increase Theo's Keppra. They also said they are almost done with the referral and will send it off to the Epilepsy Specialist on Monday.

On Saturday I went on my longest bike ride to date! 35 miles! I pumped up my tires, filled up my camel back, grabbed two gels, put on my padded shorts, and headed out. I was feeling strong, but around mile 30 I started to struggle. I usually fill up my camel back and water bottle with plenty of ice, but we didn't have any at the house (oops!). My water was warm and I didn't bring enough gels with me. I considered adding in another loop which would have put me at 40 miles, but I started shaking, so I decided it was time to head home. When I was just a half mile from our house (on Bell Rd) I noticed a large crowd at the Glider's Club. They were having a fundraiser for a local child and anyone could pay/donate and go up in the glider. The owner spotted me standing on the side of the road with my bike and invited me to join them. I went over and sat on the grass and watched the gliders for a few minutes. It was pretty cool to watch them take off and land. We hear them flying over our house a lot, but I've never seen them take off!

After I got home I ate some carbs and sugars before taking a long shower. I was sore from the ride, but not where I thought I would. Turns out my new seat was well worth the investment!

That afternoon I was glued to YouTube as the big Marvel and Star Wars D23 panels were going on! We got a bunch of new trailers and some big news! I was texting with my brothers the entire time too. We are all very excited!

Theo had one seizure today.

On Sunday we watched football and the memorials for 9/11.

We are trying to encourage Theo to army crawl, but he doesn't want to (or he's too tired). I thought we could use Josh to try to entice him, but it didn't work.

[It's always great with the Chargers beat the Raiders!]

[Love this!]

Theo didn't have any seizures today!
