Last Week Before Vacation!

It's the final countdown! *cue music*

We booked this Baltic trip back in January 2021, its been a lot of work to coordinate, and I can't believe it's finally here!

Monday, September 19th:

I bought Theo these sunglasses and I wasn't sure if he would wear them, but he had those pretty blue eyes that we need to protect. I showed them to Theo and asked if I could put his "cool guy" glasses on. He bowed his head, like he does when I ask if I can put his regular glasses on, and I put the sunglasses on. He LOVES them!

Theo's bus driver and the bus aid kept telling Theo how cool he looked and he was so excited! He wore the glasses all the way to school and everyone there thought he looked awesome!

When I got to the school to pick Theo up his aid told me that Theo took two TWO hour naps! School is only five hours long. She said he was very sleepy during the hour that he was awake.

I drove Theo to PT and he slept the whole way there AND during a lot of PT. After therapy I took him to get his flu shot. He then slept the entire way home.

It had been a week since Neurology sent over their referral to the Pediatric Epilepsy Center at Laurie's Children's Hospital of Chicago. I decided to call them and make sure that they had received the referral. They said they got it and they were trying to figure out which doctor would be the best fit for Theo. She said they would call be back by Wednesday to schedule an appointment.

After we got home I started going though our backpacks. I found a couple Zaca packs and a chocolate wrapper from our trip to South America in 2018!

I also got our large red rolly bag ready to be picked up by Luggage Forward. They are going to pick it up tomorrow and it will be delivered to our room on the cruise ship 🤞🏻🤞🏻

We are taking three suitcases, two backpacks, Theo's car seat, and his wheelchair. We did a trial run and packed up everything to make sure it all fit and was under 50 lbs. Success!

Theo had one seizure today.

The next morning (Tuesday, September 20th), I had a couple Zoom calls with our HOA in Florida. We actually made quorum this time, BUT not enough people voted! UGH! Why would you register to vote, but not vote?!

After I sent Theo off to school I went to see my esthetician for a microdermabrasion and facial. It was heavenly! She said my skin is looking better over all, but I do have a few small zits. She said that is from "purging" and it is super common when you start a new face cleansing regimen.

After I got home I put our large red rolly bag outside and waited for the courier to come pick it up. I put an Apple AirTag in the bag so I could watch the journey. I can't wait to see where it goes!

I then went to Theo's school to pick him up. His aid said he had a much better day and was a lot more alert. YAY! I was really nervous that his flu shot would make him even more tired, but that wasn't the case. I took Theo to OT and he had a great session!

Theo didn't have any seizures today.

The next morning (Wednesday, September 21st) I put Theo on the bus and then headed to the Athletic Club to swim laps. I swam 2225 yards (1.2 miles) in 61 minutes. To be honest, I love to swim, but swimming in a pool is too boring. I'm not sure if I am going to get a membership at the Athletic Club and make swimming a normal part of my exercise schedule. Maybe I'll just pay for a daily membership if I feel like swimming a few days a month.

When I got home the ladies from Making Home were there working on our laundry room. They installed the doors on the top two cabinets and installed board and batten along the long grey wall opposite the washer and dryer. It's looks fantastic and then entire room is perfect!

Here's the "before" for reference:

If you are looking for some very talented ladies to give your home a makeover please reach out to Making Home and let them know I sent you!

Theo had two seizures today.

We had quite the storm come through on Wednesday and as a result it was VERY chilly when I took Theo outside the next morning (Thursday, September 22nd) to get on the bus.

[Leaves on the top of the tree are changing]

I put Theo's warm poncho (it has fleece lining) and "cool guy" sunglasses on him and he fell asleep before the bus showed up. I guess he was all warm and cozy!

[Another busy day at school]

[Sleeping on the way to OT]

While Theo was at OT I decided to be brave and go get a car wash. I got yelled at years ago when I was trying to get my car washed and I've been traumatized ever since. This time went much better and they did a "rack retract" so the brushes were softer on my bike rack.

After we got home we Zoomed with Theo's feeding therapist and then I messaged his dietitian to let her know what the GI Specialist said about Theo's weight. His dietitian recommends we add in some extra vitamins, since he isn't getting enough with the reduction in food.

Theo had two seizures today.

The next morning (Friday, September 23rd) I checked in on my red rolly bag and saw that it was 4300 miles away in Germany!

Later that same day it showed up at the Amsterdam airport (I'm guessing to go through customs before heading to the port). I'm just happy it's in the right country!

I ran a bunch of errands that morning (allergy shots, Target, Crumbl, etc.) and then went and picked Theo up from school early. I gave the wonderful people at Theo's school the Crumbl cookies and then we headed to Hanger so Theo could get measured for his new AFO and SMOs.

I hadn't heard back from the Pediatric Epilepsy Center, so I decided to give them a call. The lady I talked to said they were still waiting to hear back from the doctors and she would call me once they heard back. Luckily, a couple hours later, she called me back! She said they matched Theo with a doctor and they can now schedule an appointment. She asked what days work best for us and I said whatever day is the soonest. She was able to get us in on November 30th! I heard it was a six month wait to get in so I was very happy about that!

Theo had one seizure today.

On Saturday (September 24th) Josh and I got rid of most of our flowers (they were not going to make it once it got too cold), I did a bunch of laundry, and Josh got a hair cut!

Our new hooks are perfect for hanging my shirts and Theo's rompers out to dry!

[I just love this!]

[Star Wars and LOTR mashups are my favorite!]

Theo had one seizure today.

I think we are ready for tomorrow! It will be quite the adventure! Wish us luck!
