HoHo's Take the South: Part I - Travel and Dinner in Savannah

Thursday, October 19th:

I put Theo on the bus, finished packing, and then headed to the airport to meet up with Katey and Emily. Their flight left Las Vegas at 5:30 AM, but I told them to try and stay awake as they will adjust to the time change better. Three hours can be a little rough, my one hour change was not too dramatic.

I met them at their gate with some Hostess HoHos and it was a glorious reunion!

We had a few hours to waste before our two hour flight to Savannah, so we walked around the airport, got some Garrett's Popcorn, caught up, and grabbed lunch.

We had a quick, uneventful flight to Savannah.

[It's so green and swampy!]

We got our rental car and then drove into Savannah.

Our first stop was the JW Marriott on River Street. My dad made at lot of recommendations to us for this trip and he said the JW Marriott was a nice treasure. It's true! The entire lobby is full of gems!

We then walked down River Street along the Savannah river.

We stopped in the River Street Sweets to check out their famous treats! They gave us free samples of their World Famous Pecan Pralines and we decided we would come back after dinner for more!

Our next stop was Vic's on the River for dinner. We shared She Crab soup, scallops, shrimp & grits, and crab cakes and everything was delicious!

[Shrimp and grits]

[Scallops]

[She Crab soup and beignets]

[Poached pear salad]

[Crab cakes]

After dinner we walked along River Street where we saw the Georgia Queen heading out for a river cruise.

And then headed to the Hilton Head Island Beach & Tennis Resort where my parents condo is. If you are heading to Hilton Head for vacation you should definitely stay there!
