Parent's Visit and Birthday Weekend - Part I

First, I want to start with this:

If you don't already, go follow SharonSaysSo on IG. She's amazing!

Now, onto the post!

We have a family trip to Disney World planned for early December. Theo has a mask exemption for school, but Disney still isn't allowing exceptions. I got Theo another mask (the one he has is a little tight), so we can work on wearing it in public.

We bought these giant gymnastic mats for Theo to play on, but he still likes to slide off the edge and play on the carpet.

On Thursday, August 5th, my parents drove up from Ohio to spend the weekend with us.

On Friday, August 6th, Theo had PT. He's been working hard on rolling to the right and sitting.

That night, Josh and I went to Mastro's in Chicago for my birthday dinner. Thanks mom and dad for babysitting Theo!

Dinner was AMAZING! We started with King Crab Claws, lobster bisque, and a salad.

[Best lobster bisque I've ever had!]

For our main course I got the filet mignon (medium-rare) and Josh got the Japanese A5 Wagyu. We've had Wagyu once before at Alinea and he just had to try it again. Honestly, don't try Wagyu if you ever want to enjoy steak again. It'll ruin all other meats for you! It's so tender that it melts in your mouth!

[We also got gorgonzola Mac-n-cheese]

And for dessert we got their famous Buttercake!

[My drink had dry ice in it! Fancy!]

Of course we bought an extra buttercake for my dad, since it's his favorite 😋

The next morning, August 7th, we all headed to the Naper Settlement in Naperville for the Food Truck Festival.

We brought our wagon, four beach chairs, a blanket, and an umbrella, so we could set up camp and stay for a while.

[It was Theo's nap time. Thanks mom for walking with him until he fell asleep!]

Our first stop was at the lobster truck! We shared everything, so we could try more trucks.

Naper Settlement consists of 13 acres of land and 30 historic buildings. It's a very cool place to have a Food Truck Rally. All of the trucks were spread out and it was fun to walk around the historic site.

After a couple of hours we left the Rally and headed to the Naperville Riverwalk. We strolled along the river and downtown before getting some gelato. It was a super hot and humid day, so gelato and ice cold beverages was just what we needed.

We then headed back to the Rally and got some empanadas and giant lemonades!
