Rise of the Siblings - Part X: Shanghai Disneyland

Day 6: Sunday, April 13th

We went all out for our day at Shanghai Disneyland! We got Early Entry and the Premier Access Deluxe Set of 15. These passes got us into the park early and we had fast passes to Zootopia: Hot Pursuit, Soaring Over the Horizon, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, TRON, Roaring Rapids, Pirates of the Caribbean Battle for the Sunken Treasure, Rex's Racer, Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan's Flight, Woody's Roundup, Voyage to the Crystal Grotto, Buzz Lightyear Planet Rescue, and three others.

We got in line early at the special entrance for people who were staying at the Disneyland Hotel. Of course, I brought the wrong hotel key and they almost made us go back and get the correct one, but after I showed them our confirmation email and our passports, they let us in. Phew!

We went through security and lined up at the rope with everyone else. Right at rope drop people started running! I mean like RUNNING! We had no idea were they were going! We hurried over to TRON and it was a blast!

[Pure joy!]

After TRON we walked onto Buzz Lightyear Planet Rescue. Luke killed it!

We still couldn't figure out where everyone went, but while we were looking at the app to find our next ride we saw this:

Yes, you are reading that correctly. NINE hours to meet LinaBell. NINE HOURS! I told you character greets were a big deal here in Asia. And here's the proof!

We then headed over to Zootopia where we found all the people who were not in line to meet LinaBell. Zootopia did VERY well here and if people weren't dressed up as Duffy and his friends, they were dressed up as someone from Zootopia.

The Zootopia ride was ADORABLE and the line was just as cute!

We were able to ride everything in the morning without using our Premier Access passes. I think one of the biggest surprises was Pirates of the Caribbean Battle for the Sunken Treasure!

Pirates in Shanghai Disney is by far the coolest ride I've ever been on! It wasn't just floating in a boat while looking at dioramas. The boat went backwards a few times and there was a GIANT screen that made it feel like you were in a massive sea battle. The technology was just insane! I can't stop thinking about it!

Shanghai Disneyland has so much delicious food:

[Grilled corn with meat floss and crispy rice... I don't know what "meat floss" is, but it's delicious!]

[Popsicle]

[Giant marshmallow]

[Giant marshmallow and tiny donuts]

[Mango icecream]

[Of course when we went on Soaring we had to sit in Bravo 1!]

In Hong Kong about 80% of the toilets were "Western Toilets" while the rest were squatting toilets. In China it was 80% squatting toilets and 20% "Western Toilets." I was definitely in the minority!

[Line to meet LinaBell]

Another thing people at the Asia parks do is line up all day for front row seats for the parades. At rope drop they will run to the parade route and lay out their pads. Someone will sit there all day and wait for the parade.

[Zootopia characters AND Duffy and Friends!]

After we went on all the rides we walked around the Park and took pictures of things we ran past at Rope Drop.

[Main Street]

[The beautiful castle]

There is a huge area in front of the castle that is full of hedges and flowers. It's beautiful! And people love to take pictures here!

We spent the second part of the day making sure that we use all of our Premier Access passes.

It's hard to tell in this picture, but the balloon guy is surrounded by girls posing for pictures. The girls are dressed up in custom made outfits (and they look fantastic!) and their boyfriends are posing them and taking the photos.

[Wheelchairs!]

[Giant Floating Donald]

We walked back to the hotel, packed our bags, ordered room service, and crashed early!

[Caesar salad and pizzas 😋]

Shanghai Disneyland was so much fun and I'm glad we decided to add this stop to our vacation! Even though the Park was similar to Hong Kong Disneyland it still had it's own flair! My mind is still blown thinking about the cultural differences that we have experienced at these parks. Going on rides is not a huge priority for the locals. They dress up, go to character greets, and take a ton of unique photos. Another thing that is very unique to HK and Shanghai Disney is how everyone (and I mean everyone) records the entire ride. Even the really long rides or the rides that are really fast and you probably won't be able to see anything!

Even though we couldn't speak the language the people in China were so kind and generous. We did get a lot of stares, but when we would catch people staring at us they would always smile and wave!

Thanks to the people of Shanghai and Hong Kong for taking good care of us!

Onto Japan!
