Day 23: Wednesday, April 30th
We were up early to catch our bus transfer from the Sheraton Grand Hotel to the Hiroshima Hotel.
[Breakfast of champions!]
[Off to the airport!]
Before I left on this trip I bought a portable, rechargeable hair straightener. I flew with it from Chicago, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and Shanghai and did have any issues. But my checked bag was flagged and it was the straightener. They told me if I could remove the battery I could keep it. I showed them that it was completely dead (I only used it once on the trip), but it didn't matter. I couldn't remove the battery so they wouldn't let me check it or carry it on the plane.
[Bummer]
We had a quick 80 minute flight from Hiroshima to Tokyo.
[Nice accessible bathroom at the Haneda Tokyo airport]
We landed at 10:45 AM and our flight to LAX wasn't until 6:25 PM. Unfortunately the Haneda airport doesn't have a United Polaris Lounge, but they do have a ANA Lounge that we were able to access.
The lounge was huge and had food, drinks, and plenty of places to sit.
Every hour we would go walk around the airport to stretch our legs. I loved seeing these autonomous roaming wheelchairs! You can order one and they will come get you and take you to your next gate. They are so cute!
[Luke built a Pikachu!]
At 5:00 PM we boarded our 10 hour United flight to LAX.
[More airlines need this boarding order]
[Business class baby!]
[Breakfast]
After 10 hours we arrived at LAX where it was 12:30 in the afternoon. Luke and I were flying out of different terminals, so we said goodbye and headed to our terminals.
My flight wasn't until 5:30 PM, so I went to the Polaris Lounge and took a shower! It was awesome!
[Twinkies! I'm home!]
I landed back in Chicago at midnight, but I hired a car, so Josh and Theo didn't have to come get me. After an insanely long day I am glad to be home!
